Preventive Care
The best way to take care of your smile is by maintaining a regular schedule of dental visits every 3-6 months for a complete dental examination and cleaning. At this visit, we will perform a thorough dental examination to evaluate the condition of your teeth, gums and jaw joints. Using necessary digital xrays and electronic cavity detection, we will look for signs of tooth decay, bone loss or other underlying dental problems such as abscesses or infection. We will provide you with an update on your oral health, and recommend any necessary treatment or changes to your home care regimen.
Sealants
A sealant is a clear plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where decay occurs most often. This sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the decay-prone areas of the teeth from plaque and acid. Learn more about Sealants
X-Rays
This is a focused beam of X-Ray particles through bone which produces an image on special film, showing the structure through which it passed. This gives the familiar black and white images that doctors and dentists use to diagnose problems. X-Rays are a necessary part of the diagnostic process, and not to use them could lead to undiagnosed disease. Without an X-Ray of the whole tooth, and supporting bone and gum tissues, there is no real way to detect infection or pathology that requires attention.
In our office we use digital radiography which allows us to take X-Rays using 50-70% less radiation versus conventional X-Rays. Coupled with computer monitoring, digital x-ray technology allows us to enhance the images for better diagnosis of any dental concerns.
